My name is Shannon Heafey and I'm from Tewksbury MA. I'm Hospitality
Management major here at Nichols and I'm minoring in English. I went to
Tewksbury Memorial High School for four years and graduated in 2011. I applied
to nine different colleges, but something stood out to me at Nichols. In high
school I had a very busy schedule. I was a four-year participant as a varsity
cheerleader, dance team member, and I danced outside of school at a studio in
Andover, MA called Dance Infusion. I was use to having a lot to manage into my
schedule everyday so it comes very easy to me. I loved being surrounded by
sports, activities and events all the time. Nichols seemed the closest to the
environment I am use to at home and I was very comfortable here. Nichols also,
has a great hospitality management program that I was eager to get into, but
before I came to Nichols my three best friends and I took an all-inclusive trip
to Cancun, Mexico with out mothers. It was the most memorable vacation I've
ever been on. I was born with congenital heart disease and aortic stenosis so I
was never really able to travel. I always had to be close to home just incase
anything happened. I've been stable for about three years now and my doctors
and my parents both agreed that I deserved a vacation. It was my first
time ever leaving the country so I needed to go get a passport and fill out a
lot of safety information before entering Mexico. I have never been anywhere
tropical so I was amazed to see how breathtaking the appearance really was. I
had a great time with my friends and we made so many funny memories that I will
never forget. When we returned from our trip we all shortly left for college
and had to say our goodbyes. Cancun was definitely one of the most memorable
moments of my life. I really hope we go back sometime soon. Besides that trip I’m
not that much of a traveler due to my condition, but it doesn’t stop me from
having fun with my friends! Hopefully this helps you get to know me a little
better!
