Buying an IPhone

I have needed a new phone since last
summer, when I dropped my beloved Envy 3 on Batman, at Six Flags. I loved that phone so much and my prehistoric
flip phone has just not been doing the job. I cannot take any photos, browse
the web, or play video games on my phone. However, one phone can do all these
things and more. The IPhone is a luxury to have in the palm of your hand, but
should you feel guilty about buying the IPhone?
Apple’s manufacturing headquarters,
located in China, pump out millions of IPhones, I Pads, and IPods a day. Yet,
the harsh working environment of the employees working at Apple’s headquarters
called Foxconn, make people wonder if it is worth having the I whatever. Harsh
working conditions, and underage employees, are not the type of things I want
to think about every time I use my IPhone. For example, the article I read
says, “Foxconn is a 24-hour operation. Employees work six days a week,
sometimes in 12-hour shifts. They're on their feet for so long that their legs
begin to swell. There are underage workers. They live in crowded dorms on the
factory's campus. In recent years, there have been reports of workers leaping
from buildings in apparent suicides.” However, this is not the worst of it, these
are terrible working conditions, but not fatal. Another paragraph in the
articles reads, “The story even describes the gruesome death of one Foxconn
worker after an explosion in a facility that made iPads in Chengdu, China. The
worker's "skin was almost completely burned away" by the blast, the
Times reports. He died a few days later with his family by his side.” These
tragedies all happen, families are stricken with the mourning of their family
members, people are taking their own lives, so we as Americans can play temple
run on our IPhones.
All in all, I do not believe that it
is worth having an IPhone if human beings in another country have to suffer,
and even die just to make it. I will be more than happy to just have my flip
phone if that is the case. I can play video games, and browse the web on my lap
top.

  1. Yes, an iPhone is a great phone to have. It can do so many things and I feel that everyone should have one as well. It has so many different gadgets and all of those unlimited apps on it. For example, the app store for the IPhone has many different games like, Block Breaker, and cool and helpful gadgets like the GPS Navigator. So not only will you have fun with one you can find little helpful things within it as well.
