Hi everyone,
My name is Leah Hartwell, I am from East Bridgewater, MA. I am currently a junior at Nichols College studying Sport Management. My plan is to get into the event management field of professional sports some day. After transferring from Dean College in Franklin, MA, I decided to come finish up at Nichols and play Field Hockey as well. For the past few summers I have worked at a summer camp in East Bridgewater as a camp counselor. My group consisted of boys and girls ages 10-12, the camp runs in two week sessions for eight weeks total, it has been a great experience year after year. A lot of the children that attend camp come from a tough home life so it is a great feeling being allowed to make an impact on their lives. I am hoping to gain a better knowledge of computer skills at the end of this course. I know the basics of most of the programs that we are scheduled to cover in this class, but I don't know all the ins and outs of each program.
As we all know the big games for the NFL Championships are coming up this Sunday. The Patriots versus the Ravens and the Giants versus the 49er's. The winners of each games will be heading to the 2012 Superbowl in Indianapolis. I picked this blog because it is a hot topic this week with the games just 3 days away. Being a New England native clearly I'll be rooting for the Patriots, I am actually lucky enough to be attending the game on Sunday. Having Nichols so close to the Connecticut boarder but still located in Mass makes for a lot of Giants and Patriots fans. I can only imagine how campus will be if these two teams were to advance to the Superbowl and face each other for a rematch after the undefeated Patriots loss to the Giants in 2008 (2007-2008 Season).

Leah I am glad you chose to come here this year to finish out your last two years as a Nichols student. Your involvement on the field hockey team this year made all the difference. We had a really fun season and I’m so happy you got to be a part of it. I also really enjoyed reading how you worked at a summer camp with kids who have troubled backgrounds I think that is very respectable and be very rewarding. I know that in the profession I have chosen I will be working with children who come from troubled backgrounds. You and I are in the same boat when it comes to this class. I think learning a little bit more about how to use some of the programs work will do me some good. I really liked reading what you had to say about that blog! I cant wait to watch the Patriots this week!
