Apple improving conditions in China?

Conditions? 

Americans expect good working conditions in the United States, and they expect American countries to uphold these working conditions in other countries. Apple, a big company of American products like the IPhone and IPod is located in China where Chinese people are making our technologies. Chinese people are slaving over products that Americans are dying to have. While Americans are "dying to have" apple products, Chinese people are literally dying in the factories making these products. In the article, "Apple manufacturing plant workers complain of long hours, militant culture", it talks about how Apple treats its employers overseas. Apple used Chinese workers to save money and did not care about the working conditions. 

In the article, "Apple 'determined' to improve conditions at plants in China", Apple CEO, Tim Cook, is wanting to address the public about all the concerns about the working conditions in China. "We think the use of underaged labor is abhorrent. It's extremely rare in our supply chain, but our top priority is to eliminate it totally. We've done that with our final assembly and we're now working with vendors farther down in the supply chain. If we find a supplier that intentionally hires underage labor, it's a firing offense," he told the audience. Tim Cook is trying to say that he is getting rid of any underage workers or not taking any products from companies that use underage workers. But Apple allows workers to not work more than sixty hours, which is twenty more than American workers typical work week. Apple says it is trying to improve the work conditions but they are profiting 98 million dollars in cash by outsourcing. Apple will do anything it takes to get ahead and make an extreme amount of profit. 

Everyone knows how expensive Apple products are and people buy them for the name of Apple. There is the IPod which is exactly like the MP3 but more expensive. People buy IPods rather than MP3s because it has the name of Apple. Same thing goes with the IPad when there is other products on the market that are less expensive. Apple is making a huge amount of money because people want the name Apple for their products. Apple could spare some money to help out chinese workers have a better work environment, and not have underage workers in their factories. They also could afford to not have their workers working sixty hours a week when people in the US work only 40 hours. Apple has a lot to do in order to improve their working conditions and regained the good reputation that they once had.
