apple over working their workers

First off, aren’t we in a new age where we don’t over work our workers? Aren’t there laws for this very reason? If the answer to those questions is yes; than why the heck aren’t we doing anything about this situation? Why hasn’t anyone gone to the police? I cannot tell if this is someone complaining because they have to work hard or if this situation is completely legitimate and we should look into it. To some people this situation may look as if Americans are just complaining because they have to work a couple more hours than they are supposed to be.  This story takes place in china where they do not have labor protection laws as of now. For that reason how can you look badly at apple? Also, how can we tell if this is true because there is only one personal account of this information? This one person’s opinion shouldn’t be something that we all jump on because it could very well not be true.  if it is not true that we would be doing a disservice to the apple corporation that has been a huge American success story. When you think of apple you think of Steve Jobs. He created and started the apple corporation all on his own. He of course then started having other people help him but he started it himself and that is the American dream! I know I look at apple as something that I want to model my business after one day. I want to be able to build my business up like he has. Of course I will have strict rules and restriction but I will be fair to my employees.  I want to make it clear that I think it is wrong to treat your employees wrong. I will stand by treating every person fair. I would like to hear more information on this situation before I make an assumption on the situation because I know that it is a sensitive topic. If you look at Nike people look at that company is looked at as a company that uses sweatshops and some people stopped buying their stuff. I just don’t want to see apple like that because I personally don’t think they are.

  1. I frist want to say that i totally agree 110% with Pat. We do have laws againist this exact same thing and no one is doing a thing about it. Its really unfortunate that a company like Apple who has made great strides in the world of technology a company who has resources almost everywhere treats there employees this porrly. We always look at Apple at such a postive company, i am or was one of those people. now you have too look at Apple and say is it worth it, maybe on paper but in terms of ethics I dont know if I am so sure anymore.

  2. i totally agree with Pat. workers should be trested with equal rights all around. some people work day in and day out and get no appreciation or just get treated like garbage. i appreciate a hard worker. both my parents were hard workers and i myself am also a hard worker. i have seen how a company can mistreat there workers because it has happend to me. hopefully one day every country will treat their hard workers with more respect and give them more rights

  3. Pat, I also couldn’t agree with you more. I think what they are doing is really bad. I also think it is going to make Apple look bad professionally. Other companies are also not going to respect Apple for what they are doing. I think Apple really needs to step up there game and use some of the billions of dollars they are making to help the people overseas who are working in awful conditions and can barely survive. I am glad this issue is such a hot topic in the united states maybe people will start to become more aware of all the luxuries we have here that are not available to other people. I think it is cool that Steve Jobs lived the American dream but now that the company is so large they should work on getting labor laws in China where there employees are working.
